Outrage As Obama In Germany Calls For Borderless Globalization Of All Europe

“People are unsettled by globalisation,” Obama said. “The benefits often times are diffused. People visibly see a plant moving and jobs lost and the narrative develops that this is weakening rather than strengthening the position of ordinary people and ordinary workers.”

US President Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel made a joint pitch Sunday for deeper transatlantic trade in the face of mounting opposition, vowing to force through a vast US-EU trade pact.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Obama is working overtime to force through his globalist trade pact TTIP because that is the main tool that will effectively erase Europe’s borders. The One World Government is being assembled at a very rapid rate, but it will depend heavily on who the next American president will be. A Donald Trump presidency would deal a major blow to Obama’s TTIP, which is one reason why the elites don’t want him in.

After talks in the northern town of Hanover where tens of thousands marched Saturday against the planned deal, Obama said the world’s largest trade pact could be finalised by the end of the year.
“Angela and I agree that the United States and the European Union need to keep moving forward with the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership negotiations,” Obama said.

Obama and Merkel inaugurate Hannover Messe 2016:

“I don’t anticipate that we will be able to have completed ratification of a deal by the end of the year, but I do anticipate that we can have completed the agreement.” Both sides hope the pact will provide a shot in the arm to Western economies that are still struggling to erode the devastating effects of the global financial crisis.
“As you see other markets like China beginning to develop and Asia beginning to develop and Africa growing fast, we have to make sure our businesses can compete.”

Thousands of anti-TTIP activists rally in Hannover ahead of Obama visit:

Merkel echoed that sentiment, saying the deal was “extremely helpful to allow our economy in Europe to grow”. “It is good for the German economy, it is good for the European economy,” she said.

But Obama acknowledged there was popular opposition.

“People are unsettled by globalisation,” he said. “People visibly see a plant moving and jobs lost and the narrative develops that this is weakening rather than strengthening the position of ordinary people and ordinary workers.”

“The benefits often times are diffused.” Ahead of the meeting there was a sign of the significant hurdles that remain. Merkel’s Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel warned the deal “will fail” if the United States refused to make concessions in “buy American” clauses.

 ‘Right side of history’

Merkel and Obama also discussed world crises including Syria and Libya. On Syria, Obama defended his decision not to impose a safe zone that could help stem flows of migrants and refugees into Europe that have hurt Merkel politically.

“Sadly, it is very difficult to see how it would operate short of us essentially being willing to militarily take over a big chunk of that country.” But he rushed to Merkel’s defence over the refugee crisis, saying she was on “the right side of history”

Obama’s trip — perhaps his last official visit to Germany before leaving office in January — coincides with the Hanover Messe, a large trade fair that demonstrates German industrial prowess.

It follows stops in Saudi Arabia and Britain, where Obama plunged headlong into the debate over membership of the European Union. Obama pitched in on the side of Prime Minister David Cameron, arguing that Britain would be lose influence and trade opportunities if citizens vote to leave the EU in a June referendum.

Pyatt praises Mariupol tragedy: "This is the city where the Novorossiya project was shot dead"

“US Ambassador praises shooting of people in Mariupol: ‘It was then that the ‘Novorossiya’ project died’”

The events in Mariupol, Donetsk region (when Nazi Azov fighters shot at a peaceful demonstration of residents on May 9, 2014), have become an example of the struggle against the “Russian world” for all of Donbass. This was stated by the US Ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt, during his visit to Mariupol today, where he held a meeting with representatives of the local government.

“I think that it was Mariupol that showed the people of Donbass that the future depends on peace and stability,” Pyatt is quoted as saying by the press-service of the US Embassy.

The press-service also noted that during his visit the Ambassador also commented on Ukrainian elections and the successor of individual regions in fighting against corruption.

Pyatt also met with the head of the Donetsk region’s national police, Vyacheslav Abroskin, and visited the “Azovstal” plant owned by oligarch Rinat Akhmetov.

China Denies U.S. Carrier Hong Kong Visit Amid Maritime Tension

China has denied a U.S. carrier strike group’s request for a port visit to Hong Kong next week amid escalating tensions in the adjacent South China Sea.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs notified the U.S. Thursday of its decision to deny the USS John C. Stennis and its escort ships access to the former British colony, Darragh Paradiso, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Consulate General in Hong Kong, said by phone. The ministry provided no explanation for the move, she said.

The decision follows weeks of increasing diplomatic sparring between China and the U.S. over Beijing’s claims to more than 80 percent of the South China Sea. The nuclear-powered Stennis has played a central role in U.S. efforts to demonstrate its continued security presence in the disputed waters, with Defense Secretary Ashton Carter visiting the warship on patrol there earlier this month.

The Stennis has become a "symbol of efforts to spark strategic tensions between China and the United States," said Shi Yinhong, director of the Center on American Studies at Renmin University in Beijing and a foreign policy adviser to the State Council. "The cancellation is a snapshot of the current intensity in China-U.S. security relations. Without significant security need, routine port calls would not have been canceled."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs didn’t immediately respond to a faxed request for comment.

Port Visits

China’s claims to the South China Sea have fueled disputes with other Southeast Asian nations that assert rights to the area, including Vietnam and the Philippines. Tensions are running high as the region braces for a ruling by an international arbitration panel on a Philippine challenge to China’s claims.

While U.S. warships frequently visit Hong Kong, port calls have been canceled at times of diplomatic strain between the two Asia-Pacific powers. In 2007, China denied access to the city’s port by the aircraft carrier, the USS Kitty Hawk.

“We have a long track record of successful port visits to Hong Kong, including with the current visit of the USS Blue Ridge, and we expect that will continue," Paradiso said, referencing the U.S. Navy command ship already moored in the city.

Beijing has reclaimed more than 3,000 acres to build up artificial islands, some of them featuring ports and runways that will allow it to better assert its claims to a waterway that hosts more than $5 trillion in annual shipping. The U.S., which is not a claimant, contends that the militarization of the islands may hinder navigation in the waters.

"We're Not Afraid!": Veterans Will March in the Center of Kiev on May 9th

A likely ban on the celebration of Victory Day in Ukraine would be an insult to the veterans of the great Patriotic war. However, they intend to march on Khreshchatyk, even if far-right extremists open fire on them.

According to the head of the Kiev organization of veterans of Ukraine, Nikolai Martynov, the Verkhovna Rada adopting the law on the "condemnation of the communist and national socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes in Ukraine and prohibition of propaganda with their symbols" takes the celebration of the victory away from the veterans. He made such a statement during an interview with the Ukrainian version of "The voice".

"The presidential decree takes away the concept of the great Patriotic war, [...] takes away the celebrations on May 9th, and focuses on 8th May — the Day of remembrance and reconciliation. When Viktor Yushchenko came to power, he asked us about reconciliation. We said that the leadership of the organization cannot resolve the issue personally and offered to ask the veterans. We interviewed them, and at that time we were told by 99.9% that there cannot be reconciliation with those who are not rehabilitated. What is reconciliation? We signed a contract  with Nazi Germany. She surrendered," — quotes RT.

Martynov also stressed that the decree is unconstitutional, because this decision was made without a referendum. In the case of approval of the law by the President, according to the head of the Kiev organization of veterans of Ukraine, the ban in the country will fall on the Day of Defender of the Fatherland.

"My office has a copy of a Victory banner — a veteran banner. And opposite in the city centre there are trash cans. So I'm afraid if the "Pravy sector" come, they can tie this banner around their neck and suffer in the dustbin. An element of intimidation is also felt by veterans. Lawlessness comes from the SBU, some law enforcement bodies" — said Martynov to the website "Politnavigator". He also fears that on 9th May, they may be attacked by extremists from the "Right sector".

His words were confirmed by veteran-soldier and retired Colonel Dmitri Stadnyuk. "We will never agree with the fact that you cannot celebrate May 9th [...] We will openly go to downtown. Let them try to shoot at us. We're not afraid. We will fight, if you will bring us to such a state," — he said.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian Parliament, on April 9th, passed a law condemning communist and national socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes in Ukraine and prohibition of propaganda with their symbols." Its goal is to "prevent the recurrence of crimes of the communist and national socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes, any discrimination on national, social, class, ethnic, racial or other grounds in the future, restoration of historical and social justice, and the removal of threats to the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security of Ukraine".

Sensational Confession of Yulia Tymoshenko: "What a bastard who came to power after Maidan..."

Newsfront
NewsFront has acquired a personal letter from the leader of the Ukrainian "Fatherland" party, Yulia Tymoshenko, addressed to Nadezhda Savchenko, who is convicted in Russia for her involvement in the murder of journalists in Donbass.

The material was provided by a hacker, who hacked a mobile device of one of the associates of Yulia Tymoshenko.

The content of the letter becomes apparent - Tymoshenko is confident that there was no structural change after the last Maidan:

"... What a bastard who came to power after the last maidan! They are sharing among themselves what their predecessor didn't finish to share... you know, I think we have a very strong country – 25 years of robbing and doing with it as they please, but it still kept poor".

Also the leader of "Fatherland" is confident that the current President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, by "punching" Vladimir Groisman onto the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine, has concentrated "absolute power" in his hands :

"Tomorrow we will approve the new government of Prime Minister Groisman, and this means that absolute uncontrolled power is transferred to Poroshenko. The government is still divided between Yatsenyuk and the PPB (Bloc of Petro Poroshenko), a new stage of looting our country begins, the loss of time and opportunity, stepping on the same rake, nobody has learned anything".

In addition, Tymoshenko is confident that for Ukraine to manage clans of corrupt politicians, power needs to be reformatted and the first step on the way to it is early parliamentary elections:

"Our little "Fatherland" team exited this shameful coalition and joined the parliamentary opposition. We cannot be accomplices to clans with corrupt politicians, we can't be complicit in putting Ukraine on the forefront of true poverty, and every Ukrainian family through hasty incompetent policies.
All the appropriate people in Ukraine believe that it is urgent to fully reformat power in the first place to initiate early parliamentary elections".

Below we have published a translation of Yulia Timoshenko's letter to Nadezhda Savchenko from Ukrainian to Russian:

Greetings to you our dear girl from your native Ukraine. I know how hard this is, I know about your suffering, what you have to endure. Your every word, your eyes feel pain, but pain gives strength and pride. You're the best sweetie, you're real.
I'm sure you'll be home soon, but I beg you, do not amuse your enemies with the deterioration of your health. You need to come home strong – there's a lot of work for you! And what do we have here? We've got all hands on deck, the pressure of time and zugzwang all in one glass...
...What bastard came to power after the last Maidan! They are sharing among themselves what their predecessor didn't finish to share... you know, I think we have a very strong country – 25 years of robbing and doing with it as they please, but it is still kept poor.

To you, it probably all seems amazing and wild. I understand you. Understand that I am speaking to you from myself and from all of our patriots who are behind bars in the Kremlin, which gave their youth and health for all of us at the front for Ukraine. For that you must be at home. On behalf of the politicians who do not know what they are doing, but all will have to answer! Hurry back home and join in the struggle for Ukraine. We are waiting for you, waiting for the whole Ukraine.
Now about the good. We as a whole faction congratulated your mother on her birthday, she made us jelly and baked her famous pies. So I sat with her and listened to great stories about your life. We sat at the same table as one family. I think we, after this meeting, know you much better. We love you very much.
We have spring. Nature woke up. A time of new hopes, new dreams. Millions of people in every Ukrainian home are praying for you, for your safety, for your life, for your freedom. This creates such a great energy that no one can defeat.
Everything will be fine, our native sun! I believe in you.
I embrace you and wait at home rather.

California Signs Law Allowing Illegals To Vote

Gov. Jerry Brown Loves the Illegals. Now they can vote!Gov. Jerry Brown Loves the Illegals. Now they can vote!

The California “Motor Voter” Law Will Allow Illegal Aliens To Vote

A California state bill was just signed in to law by Gov. Jerry Brown, that will register and allow illegal aliens to vote in US Elections.  The New Motor Voter Act (A.B.1461) that is now law in California, automatically registers residents of California to vote at the DMV.  According to the law and a report by the Washington Times, “The New Motor Voter Act automatically registers to vote all eligible voters when they obtain or renew their drivers licenses at the Department of Motor Vehicles instead of requiring them to fill out a form.”

“The goal is to ease barriers to voting, but election-integrity advocates warn that the measure could inadvertently add millions of illegal voters to the rolls given that California allows undocumented aliens to obtain drivers licenses.”  California state officials are praising the law and Alex Padilla, California’s Secretary of State says, “Citizens should not be required to opt in to their fundamental right to vote.  We do not have to opt in to other rights, such as free speech or due process.  The right to vote should be no different.” State Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez from San Diego said, “This bill will lead to millions more registered California voters, which means more people we can talk to.”

Illegal Immigrants line up at California DMV offices to register to vote
Illegal Immigrants line up at California DMV offices to register to vote

The RAW Scoop is this.  Critics of the law have called it for what it really is.  Absolute and complete voter fraud and corruption on a grand scale.  Stephen Frank from California Political Review issued a statement saying, “A.B. 1461 assures corruption of our elections.  Our elections will look like those of Mexico and other corrupt nations and honest people will stop voting, since illegals will out vote them.”  Linda Paine of the Elections Integrity Project says, “Citizens must oppose this treasonous attempt to turn California into a form of government that gives control to non-citizens.”

As you may have read, we broke a story back in August on voter fraud that the mainstream media has refused to cover.  You can see it HERE  Our election process is corrupt enough in the United States without the need for “Legislated Corruption” that California just implemented.  In a state that controls 55 Electoral College votes and is loaded with Illegal Aliens and Sanctuary Cities, it is highly unlikely that California will ever be “Red” again.  What this law will do, is guarantee millions of illegal popular votes, completely skewing the results in to the Democratic column forever.  It will also be the start of many other “Blue” states moving towards a similar law.  We need to make it known that this hostile takeover by Illegal Immigrants cannot be allowed to continue.  I am sick of the “rights” argument.  If you are here illegally, you have no rights.  Including the right to vote.  This law is scandalous and shameful to say the least…

Ukrainians Are Not Going Celebrate 71st Great Patriotic War Anniversary – How Ukro-Politics Makes People Support Nazis

148281b5_1

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine April 10, 2016 adopted the law “On commemorating the victory over Nazism in the Second World War 1939-1945”. According to this document, it is offered to celebrate annually on May 8 the “Day of memory and reconciliation”.
261 MP voted for the adoption of the decree.

The authors of the document introduce the use of the term “Second World War” and propose to abandon the term “Great Patriotic War”. So, the law “On perpetuation of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945” adopted in 2000 is not in force now.

That’s how the Ukrainian government is preparing the country for the celebration of victory over fascism – making its people believe, that the common victory of the former Soviet Union countries doesn’t mean anything now. That is how the true historical facts are smoothly changed to suit the American-backed Ukrainian politics in their cold war against Russia – discrediting Russian historical values.

The interesting fact is that the majority of Ukrainians are against the abolition of Victory Day celebrations.
According to the poll conducted by the Social Monitoring Center and Yaremenko Ukrainian Institute For Social Research, almost 80% of Ukrainians want to preserve the celebration of Victory Day on May 9.
78.1% of respondents believe that the country should continue to celebrate Victory Day on May 9.
8.3 percent of respondents believe that Victory Day should not be celebrated, and 8 of the 100 respondents propose to celebrate it May 8, like the countries of Western Europe.

The survey was conducted from March 13th to 20th, 2800 men answered to questions of sociologists, the theoretical error is not more than 1.89 percent.

Ukrainian Right-Wing Goons Are Flooding Odessa Ahead of Massacre Anniversary

US citizens: Here is Your tax dollars at work---

They intend to crack down on any commemoration of the slaughter of 48 people in 2014
Thousands marched in April to mark the liberation of Odessa from Nazi occupation

May 2 will mark the second anniversary of one of the most horrific, politically inspired tragedies in modern European history — the fire in the Odessa trade union building that killed 48 people and wounded another 200.

Numerous pleas by the United Nations and the European Union for an objective investigation into the causes of this tragedy have gone unanswered. Multiple government commissions, both local and national, have been unable to move the case forward, partly because some of the evidence has been marked secret.Screen shot of the fatal fire in Odessa, Ukraine, on May 2, 2014. (From RT video)

Last November, the International Consulting Group, set up by the Council of Europe, issued a scathing report about this lack of progress, and the government’s apparent disinterest in bringing those responsible to trial.

Now, as we approach the second anniversary of these tragic deaths, and the commemoration of Soviet victory in the Second World War on May 9, some of the same groups involved in the first tragedy are openly preparing for a second round.

To this end, the leading nationalist spokesman, Dmitro Yarosh, the former leader of the Right Sector, was recently invited to Odessa. There he explained his credo to his followers: “I am just not a democrat. My worldview is that of a Ukrainian nationalist. I believe that popular national government is very good, but only when democracy does not threaten the very existence of the state. We sometimes play at democracy with the likes of Kivalov [a member of parliament from Odessa — NP], with [Odessa’s mayor] Trukhanov . . . but in war time this is never good” he said, adding “the enemy needs to be dealt with as he is always deal with in wartime–neutralized.”

Later, local Euromaidan activist Arsen Grigoryan gave authorities just one week to prevent any commemorative gatherings from taking place on May 2, especially ones that might include government officials, or “fake parliamentarians from Europe.” If the authorities refuse to heed these warnings, he said, the consequences will be on the head of Odessa’s mayor, Gennady Trukhanov.

The event that has inspired this sudden concern among radical nationalists seems to have been the groundswell of participation during this year’s commemoration of the liberation of Odessa from Nazi occupation on April 10. Traditionally, this is a rather low-key event, that concludes with a ceremonial wreath-laying at the monument to the Unknown Sailor in Shevchenko Park.

This year, however, several thousand people joined the wreath-laying ceremony, some of whom even added Russian colors to the wreaths. This outrage caught the attention of vigilant nationalists, who then moved to disrupt the ceremony. In an unexpected twist, however, local police intervened to defend the participants against the now customary assault by radicals.

The nationalists blamed state prosecutor, Georgy Stoyanov, for this debacle and proceeded to block entry to the state procuracy building until he was removed. After succeeding in this effort, they promptly moved their protest to Odessa’s City Hall, where they are now seeking the resignation of the popularly elected mayor, Gennady Trukhanov.

Uncharacteristically, the region’s appointed governor, Mikheil Saakashvili, (the former president of Georgia) has yet to voice his opinion on this confrontation. On the one hand, he stands to gain considerable political clout if he can shift the blame for these disturbances to Mayor Trukhanov, whom he bitterly resents for ostensibly thwarting his reform efforts.

On the other hand, however, he surely knows that the radical nationalists view him as just another by-product of the corrupt and treacherous Poroshenko regime; moreover, one whose only loyalty is to his own political ambitions. Perhaps most unforgivably, for radical nationalists, he is also a foreigner.

All sides are now mobilizing in what is shaping up to be a decisive test of wills between government authority and the radical nationalists. The city is being flooded by radical activists, while the Ministry of Internal Affairs is telling Odessans to prepare for “hot May holidays.” The stage is nearly set for the next bloody confrontation between the “patriots” and the “fascists.”

This time, however, the West need not stand by helplessly and watch. There is still a chance of averting another tragedy, if the Western media draws timely attention to the current preparations for it. A significant Western media presence on the ground during the critical week from May 2 to May 9, could conceivably lead the radical nationalists to reconsider their violent strategy.

Turning a blind eye to the gathering storm, however, will only embolden the most radical elements in society and further erode respect for law and order in Ukraine.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina government agreed to destroy its own economy for the sake of EU membership.

EC, Bosnia halfway to agreement on duty-free Croatian exports

The European Commission and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) "are halfway" to reaching a final solution that would enable duty-free Croatian exports to BiH and negotiations could be completed in two weeks at the latest, BiH negotiator Hamdo Tinjak was quoted as saying in Friday's issue of the Sarajevo daily Dnevni Avaz.

Although negotiations on the adjustment of the interim trade agreement between BiH and the European Union were expected to end on Thursday, when negotiating teams met, that did not happen.

"There are things which the European Commission can't accept. There are also things we insist on. To reach an agreement, we must find a compromise, which we are working on," Tinjak said, adding that the BiH negotiating team is yet to formulate proposals for the Council of Ministers and the Presidency to consider and approve.

He said earlier the Commission was willing in principle to accept BiH's demand for a gradual adjustment of the trade agreement. This would mean that some form of customs protection would remain over a five-year period for food and agricultural imports from Croatia, primarily milk and some dairy products. BiH expects the same concession for meat and some meat products.

The adjustment of the interim trade agreement, which is part of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement between BiH and the EU, is a key prerequisite for the Commission to consider BiH's application for EU membership status, submitted in February.

Until this year, BiH refused to negotiate on the duty-free import of Croatian products, such as applies to all other EU member states, citing the need to protect domestic production, but changed its mind when Brussels made it clear that negotiations on possible EU membership are not possible without it.

Two Turkish journalists sentenced to two years in jail for Charlie Hebdo cover

ISTANBUL – Doğan News Agency

Two journalists were sentenced to two years in prison on April 28 for republishing in their columns a cover of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo featuring an image of the Prophet Muhammad.

Istanbul’s Second Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced daily Cumhuriyet journalists Ceyda Karan and Hikmet Çetinkaya to two years on charges of “openly encouraging hate and enmity among people via the press” for reprinting the caricature of the Islamic prophet after the Jan. 7, 2015, attacks on Charlie Hebdo in Paris that killed 12 people.

However, the court ruled for the acquittal of the journalists on charges of “insulting people’s religious values” on the grounds that the criminal factors had not been constituted.

Some 1,280 people had filed a criminal complaint against Karan and Çetinkaya for republishing in their columns the cover of Charlie Hebdo, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, his daughters Esra Albayrak and Sümeyye Erdoğan, his son Bilal Erdoğan, his son-in-law Energy Minister Berat Albayrak and his adviser Mustafa Varank.

The indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s office charged both Karan and Çetinkaya with “openly insulting religious values accepted by a section of the society” and “openly encouraging hate and enmity among people” by republishing the cartoon in their columns.

Cumhuriyet faced security threats after it became one of five international publications that printed excerpts from the edition of Charlie Hebdo published following the attacks, in a show of solidarity with the killed cartoonists.

Pregnant Palestinian Woman Shot 15 Times by Israeli Forces

The family of Maram Abu Ismail, a 25-year-old Palestinian woman who was believed to be five-months pregnant, said Thursday that Israeli troops shot both her and her 16-year old brother Ibrahim Taha dead Wednesday.

Israel Has Killed 49 Palestinian Children Since October
Speaking to Palestinian media, the family said Maram was five months pregnant at the time of her death as Palestinian authorities confirmed the two were on their way to a medical appointment in Jerusalem after obtaining an Israeli permit to do so.

However, Israeli police claim the woman was holding a knife and was rapidly walking toward police and other Israeli security personnel in a vehicles-only lane at the Qalandia checkpoint outside Jerusalem.
In an official statement, the Palestinian Information Ministry said the siblings entered the vehicles-only lane by accident and their killing was a "brutal daylight crime" by Israeli forces.

Witnesses also refute Israeli claims, saying the two Palestinians began moving away from the lane when the troops asked them to. One witness told local media that Maram was shot 15 times by an Israeli soldier.

Alaa Soboh, a Palestinian bus driver who said he witnessed the incident, told Reuters the pair appeared to be unfamiliar with crossing procedures.

"As soon as the two crossed, (Israeli forces) started screaming 'Go back, go back,' and then they began shooting. The first one they shot was the girl ... the boy tried to go backward when they fired seven bullets at him," Soboh said.

A Palestinian local and witness to the incident, Ahmad Taha, told the Ma’an news agency that Israeli officers approached the two after they had been shot before opening fire on them again “to ensure that they were dead,” adding the officers “could have moved the two away without opening fire.” Taha also claimed the officers planted knives on the scene.

More than 200 Palestinians have been killed since last October as part of renewed violence in the Palestinian occupied West Bank. Many of those killed did not pose a threat to Israeli troops and were shot during clashes and protests.

Sarit Michaeli of the Israeli rights group B'Tselem said Thursday his group often finds the "degree of threat posed by the individual was much lower than was claimed by security forces."
The latest round of unrest between Israel and Palestine was sparked by successive incursions by hard-line Israeli groups into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, the third-holiest site in Islam, as well as the struggling peace process and the continued illegal expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

Aid groups say Israeli troops are using excessive force against alleged Palestinian attackers, saying they could easily neutralize any threat without having to apply deadly force.

Even Israel’s biggest ally, the United States, has accused the Israeli army of “excessive use of force” in the Palestinian territories as well as “arbitrary arrest and associated torture and abuse, often with impunity,” in a U.S. State Department report released last week.
